Setup help question on Skimmer: Octopus BH-1000

I have assembled and tested the skimmer in a bucket first, and when the pump turned on , NO bubbles. Every help thread I found online stated to prime the pump, but not how. out of desperation I tried blowing into the air intake tube. Nothing except for bubbles coming out of the intake tube and into the bucket. But I tried sucking on the tube and whalla! - it kicked into gear. No leaks, no issues after several hours of running so.....

I just rinsed it and installed it in my saltwater tank and again, no bubbles. I tried the same thing but it didn't work. (and eww.... Mouthful of saltwater) I love the skimmer but what kind of company produces an item like this with no instructions?

I would love someone with experience with this skimmer to give me a tip on how to deal with this! much appreciated!

Anyone? Really need to conquer this and I am loathe to let the pump run with this issue for fear of burning it out!

Thank you for responding! I tried it again and it started to pump properly just now, but running very wet. I have dumped the cup twice in ten minutes and it is full of just water. I adjusted the cup higher so we'll see if that helps. It's bubbling like crazy now!
